Whiteoak forms “Students Against Destructive Decisions” (SADD) group!

Whiteoak High School’s “Students Against Destructive Decisions” (SADD) group is a nationally registered  chapter. Our chapter currently has 21 members. SADD is dedicated to the safety and wellness of students. SADD was founded on the simple philosophy that young people, empowered to help each other, are the most effective force in prevention. Some of our SADD members set up a table at our recent Health Fair with information on vaping. They will be doing an activity this month to support October’s ADHD Awareness and also have a “QUICK - CLICK” Challenge coming up in November for their peers to participate in to promote seat belt safety. Stay tuned for many other SADD events coming to Whiteoak High School!

Our SADD chapter recently elected officers and would like to congratulate the following students:

President: Bryce Van Hoy

Vice President: Ian Griffith

Secretary: Lydia Carr

Treasurer: Molly McMullen

CHARACTER STRONG Program being implemented!

The Bright Local School District is excited to implement a Social/Emotional Program called Character Strong into our buildings this year. This program is designed to teach students the importance of strengthening one’s own character in order to improve relationships, better comprehend emotions, increase academic achievement and overall improve the climate and culture in the school. We hope to use this program in small group discussions and in classrooms, as well as reinforcing the lessons through bulletin boards and guest speakers.

Lady Cats “Yeager Strong Night” A Huge Success

The Whiteoak Lady Wildcats Volleyball team hosted the Peebles Lady Indians on Thursday, October 7, during Yeager Strong Night, a benefit for the Yeager Family. Rusty Yeager has been hospitalized and battling Covid19 for over six weeks. He will be hospitalized for some time in order to recover and gain his strength back. The evening consisted of a spaghetti dinner, sponsored by the Mowrystown FFA, a bake sale, silent auction, live auction, split the pot, and a balloon raffle during the volleyball games. A huge thank you to the Peebles Indians for their generosity and kindness throughout the evening. Thank you to our Whiteoak Wildcat community. We are so blessed to live in a small community that cares so deeply for others and is always willing to help.   #YeagerStrong

Bright Local Lunchroom Information – 2021-2022

Bright Local Schools will participate in the Seamless Summer Option (SSO) during the 2021-2022 school year. Under this option, all children who attend Bright Local Schools will receive a breakfast/lunch at no charge. However, students will have to pay for ala carte items, which includes extra pizza, yogurt, chips, etc. Families may pay on accounts for these items two different ways. You may send a check or money with your child to apply to their account. Parents may send one check to apply to students’ accounts even if the child attends a different school. Please specify child’s name and amount for each. Parents also have the option to use for online lunch account payments. Students may charge up to $10.00 on their lunch accounts. Parents are notified by phone when their child reaches their $10.00 limit. If we do not reach the parent by phone, a letter will be sent. The cafeteria can transfer money between siblings’ accounts to cover a deficit.

Superintendent's Letter - Covid-19 Guidelines as of August 11, 2021

Bright Local Parents and Community,

I want to take this opportunity to thank the Bright Local School District, students and parents for their continued patience and support. I am excited about the opening of the schools in person, five days a week, beginning on August 18th. As we prepare for the opening of school, we must recognize the COVID-19 virus is still a concern to the safety and welfare of our students and staff. Therefore, the Bright Local Schools will implement the following safety protocols as recommended by the CDC and the ODH.
