Bright Local Purchases Property

The Bright Local School District is very pleased to announce the purchase of 17.7 acres of land from Mr. and Mrs. Harold Busch. On Wednesday, August 18, 2021 the School District and the Busch family closed on the purchase of the property. The property is located diagonally from Whiteoak High school on Taylorsville road.  The District is very thankful to the Busch family for providing this unique opportunity for the future of the Bright Local School District and the expansion of future sports facilities for our students. Although there is no timeline set, the goal is to build a track and soccer complex on the land to provide our students with state of the art sports facilities.

Bright Local Lunchroom Information – 2021-2022

Bright Local Schools will participate in the Seamless Summer Option (SSO) during the 2021-2022 school year. Under this option, all children who attend Bright Local Schools will receive a breakfast/lunch at no charge. However, students will have to pay for ala carte items, which includes extra pizza, yogurt, chips, etc. Families may pay on accounts for these items two different ways. You may send a check or money with your child to apply to their account. Parents may send one check to apply to students’ accounts even if the child attends a different school. Please specify child’s name and amount for each. Parents also have the option to use for online lunch account payments. Students may charge up to $10.00 on their lunch accounts. Parents are notified by phone when their child reaches their $10.00 limit. If we do not reach the parent by phone, a letter will be sent. The cafeteria can transfer money between siblings’ accounts to cover a deficit.

Superintendent's Letter - Covid-19 Guidelines as of August 11, 2021

Bright Local Parents and Community,

I want to take this opportunity to thank the Bright Local School District, students and parents for their continued patience and support. I am excited about the opening of the schools in person, five days a week, beginning on August 18th. As we prepare for the opening of school, we must recognize the COVID-19 virus is still a concern to the safety and welfare of our students and staff. Therefore, the Bright Local Schools will implement the following safety protocols as recommended by the CDC and the ODH.

Whiteoak Jr./Sr. High School to implement the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (P.B.I.S.) program.

Parents & Guardians/Students

Whiteoak JH/HS School is beginning the implementation process of our Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (P.B.I.S.) program to further support our Character Education program. In addition to our PBIS program we also will be incorporating our Character Strong Curriculum. This program aims to highlight and celebrate positive behavior through a designed reward system. P.B.I.S. also supplies students with skills to handle potentially negative situations and think about the best course of action.
