Dear Bright Local Families,
In making plans for the 2021-2022 school year, the Bright Local School District will continue to put the health and safety of our students and staff at the forefront of our planning efforts. The Bright Local School District will work closely with our local health department to assure that we continue to follow CDC guidelines.
It is my hope that we will continue to see minimal cases of the COVID-19 virus within our schools. I believe that the best education takes place in the school setting with direct instruction from a classroom teacher who can assist students and provide remediation when necessary. Therefore, it is my intention, at this time, to return to in-person learning five days a week, for the
2021-2022 school year. We will no longer be offering our virtual PLP option at Bright Elementary School. I do want to be clear that if we see an increase in the number of positive cases within our school community then we may need to re-address my decision.
Thank you for your understanding,Michael Bick, SuperintendentBright Local Schools
Today, a Mock Crash will take place at Whiteoak High School beginning at approximately 12 noon. Whiteoak High School along with the Southern Highland Joint Fire District, the Ohio State Highway Patrol and T & G Towing will conduct this event as a reminder to our students to drive safely, especially with our upcoming Prom.
This announcement serves as a notification for the community of today’s event to prevent confusion. The public should not mistake this event for a real crash – it is strictly a dramatization for students to educate them about the dangers of drinking and driving and distracted driving. Dispatchers will send emergency personnel to the scene of the mock crash which will be audible on law enforcement dispatch radios and rescue squad scanners.
We just wanted to make our community aware of this event.
The Coalition of Rural and Appalachian Schools (CORAS) "Heroes" Award recognizes and celebrates a behind the scenes school staff member who goes above and beyond the call of duty with exceptional contributions, exceeding normal expectations, to deliver superior service to the students of the district and the community.
Superintendent Michael Bick and the Bright Local School District would like to recognize Debbie Robertson, Food Service Director, as our School Hero!
