(Write-up from tonight's presentation - February 12, 2022)Tonight, we are recognizing one of the staples of Whiteoak Athletics and if you have been to a Ball Game in the past half century, you will know the man standing at half court. Bob McClain has been a fixture at Whiteoak sporting events for close to 50 years. For 33 of those years, Bob has served the Wildcats as a Bookkeeper, scoreboard operator, announcer and even bus driver. He started keeping the scorebook for the Boys Basketball team in 1989 and then took on the Girls scorebook as well in the mid 90’s. By the late 90’s, he was running the scoreboard and announcing for all Basketball, Volleyball and Baseball teams at Whiteoak. If somehow, he ends up with an evening that he is not at a home game working a game, you will find him on the road supporting the Cats. Bob has been a part of 2 Final Four teams (2002 Boys Basketball and 2018 Baseball) and 6 regional teams. Bob is fiercely loyal to his Whiteoak Wildcats. For all of his time, his effort, and his dedication to the Wildcats, we are proud to present Bob McClain with the Whiteoak Athletics Outstanding Volunteer Achievement Award. In addition to the Whiteoak Award, Bob McClain is the 2021-2022 recipient of the Southeast District Athletic Board FRIEND OF THE YOUTH AWARD which will be presented to Bob during the District Basketball Tournament later this month. On Behalf of the Bright Local School District, we would like to thank Mr. McClain for all of his support and all of his effort over the many years of service to this community, this school district, and to our athletic programs.
