Superintendent's Letter - Covid-19 Guidelines as of August 11, 2021

Bright Local Parents and Community,

I want to take this opportunity to thank the Bright Local School District, students and parents for their continued patience and support. I am excited about the opening of the schools in person, five days a week, beginning on August 18th. As we prepare for the opening of school, we must recognize the COVID-19 virus is still a concern to the safety and welfare of our students and staff. Therefore, the Bright Local Schools will implement the following safety protocols as recommended by the CDC and the ODH.

  • It is recommended that all students and staff members over 12 years of age receive a COVID-19 vaccination.

  • It is highly recommended by the CDC, but not mandated by Bright Local Schools, that students and staff  that are not fully vaccinated wear a mask while in the building.

  • Under current federal orders, students and staff are required to wear masks on school buses, vaccinated or not vaccinated.

  • We will continue to disinfect and sanitize common areas including classrooms and buses on a regular basis.

  • We will continue to monitor student health checks on a daily basis and will work closely with the Highland County Health Department regarding contact tracing and quarantine protocols.  Any student that tests positive or is identified as a close contact will be quarantined for 10 days or after 7 days, if they have received a negative viral (PCR or antigen) test that was performed at least 5 days after exposure.

  • If you have a temperature at home, or are sick please do not come to school! Anyone having had a fever over 100 degrees cannot return to school until they are fever free without medication for 48 hours.

  • The Governor and the CDC recommends that every child should attend school for in-person learning. Therefore, the Bright Local Schools will not be offering any virtual learning platforms for the 2021-2022 school year.

These guidelines are subject to change based on any possible outbreaks or changes made by CDC, ODH or the Highland County Health Department.
