Welcome Back-School Transportation News for Parents

We all should remember that when everyone (school bus drivers, parents, students and motorists) does their part, there is no safer place for a student than on the school bus. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) tells us that students are about 70 times more likely to get to school safely when taking a school bus instead of traveling by car.

Cellphones in Schools Ohio House Bill 250 UPDATE

Dear Wildcat Community,

In May 2024, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine signed House Bill 250, which mandates that every school district establish an official policy regarding cell phone usage during school hours. The bill aims to minimize student cell phone use in K-12 schools to reduce distractions and enhance the learning environment. At Bright Local Schools, we have adopted Board Policy 5136, which outlines our expectations and guidance on the use of cell phones and other personal communication devices. This policy is also detailed in our student handbooks:

Ohio KidWind Educator Workshop

We are thrilled to announce an upcoming professional development opportunity hosted by Bright Local Schools in partnership with Kid Wind. With the growing emphasis on solar energy projects in our region, this event aims to prepare our students for the future by integrating solar energy lessons into our curriculum.

Key Highlights:

Open to All Teachers in All Districts: No prior experience required.
Solar Education Gear: Each teacher will receive $100 worth of solar education gear.
Stipend: All attendees will receive a $100 stipend.
Meals: Breakfast and lunch will be provided!
